It’s just the unbelievable fact that you can move in three dimensions. But the most single revelatory three minutes was the first time I put on scuba gear and dived on a coral reef.
I can mention many moments that were unforgettable and revelatory. Why is it that scuba divers and surfers are some of the strongest advocates of ocean conservation? Because they’ve spent time in and around the ocean, and they’ve personally seen the beauty, the fragility, and even the degradation of our planet’s blue heart. Scuba diving is very much a black-and-white world in terms of the laws and rules one must abide by. A world that once your head sinks below the surface the thoughts of society vanish and tranquility begins. Scuba diving shows the human mind what it is truly like to move around in a fully 3-dimensional world. No matter how much you travel, if you don’t dive, you cannot say you’ve seen the world. Millions of little aquatic soap operas…between all the creatures. I love all the unique things you see on each dive. Diving is an investment of time and money but the rewards can be life-changing, literally.
